Concept:
The vision behind this is a concept for two, which allows for the transformation, to three. It is the contemporary remodel of the tenement house of the fifties, into a progressive living space for today. The current version is a suave yet bold interior, which can comfortably adjust for the needs of the expectant couple.
The sleeping space is defined by the wall in the middle. This feature is the foundation of the addition, with a built-in floor and the child’s room beneath. The implementation of the addition is available thanks to the high ceiling.
Architect´s impression: “This block of flats in Prague 9 was built in fifties. The district in Prague 9 has an industrial feel, so that’s why this invites an industrial interior.”

The original reed ceiling was removed so that we could highlight the reinforced concrete beam ceiling. This is the most prominent feature of the interior. Thanks to the wooden form work imprinted in the concrete, this creates a unique play of lights and shadows.
Architect´s Impression: “I like things uncovered. I like when things are declared and real. I like to see inside things. I designed everything to be open in the kitchen - the lower cabinets and also the shelves -are all open. I find it practical - pots, glasses, plates. Now I see where they all are. I don’t need to open doors, cupboards, or to access what is closed." The functional design is consistent in every detail. There is only gas for cooking.”
